What is how to freeze a row in excel?

To freeze a row in Excel, follow these steps:

  1. Select the row below the row you want to freeze. For example, if you want to freeze row 1, select row 2.
  2. Go to the "View" tab on the Excel ribbon.
  3. In the "Window" group, click the "Freeze Panes" dropdown.
  4. Choose "Freeze Top Row" if you want to freeze just the first row, or "Freeze Panes" if you want to freeze based on your selection. Selecting "Freeze Panes" from step 3 will freeze all rows above the selected row and all columns to the left of the selected column. In the current example it will only freeze the row(s) that is/are above selected row.
  5. To unfreeze, go back to the "Freeze Panes" dropdown and select "Unfreeze Panes".

Freezing the first row is particularly useful for keeping column headers visible as you scroll through a large dataset. Selecting a different row will allow for more flexible control over the number of frozen rows.
